When the Germans arrived in Ioannina, they were looking for Italians soldiers for some reason. The priest learned that the Germans were looking for Italians and that those he had in the fields had family and children. That’s why he felt sorry for them and hid them on the ceiling. The Germans searching from house to house came to the priest’s house and did not find them. After a few days they came out of their hiding place. They had stayed a while because they were afraid they might come again. During this time the priest brought them food and water.
