In 1966, there was a lot of bad weather in Ioannina, everything froze. Storms, winds and snow afflicted the city of Ioannina. Lake Pamvotida was frozen in those days. People could not use their boats and so they walked to the island. There were also accidents due to the frost. A soldier slipped on the ice, fell, hit his head and died.
