In the old days, there was the “bridal market”. In the village and town squares the boys sat in groups and watched the girls passing by with their girlfriends. In the central square of Ioannina in the 60s and 70s every weekend the road was closed for cars. People were free to walk on the streets. Families, the elderly and especially young boys and girls did the so-called “parade” from the Courthouse to the City Hall. During these walks the boys had the opportunity to see the girls who passed by and to choose and meet the one they liked.
