The best thing about Christmas Eve is that the whole family gathers for dinner strictly based on fish, together with stewed turnips and panzerotti with mozzarella (not with meat!). To celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus, we go to church late at night or we give birth to the baby Jesus in the house carrying it in procession in the hands of the youngest of the house and singing “You come down from the stars”. The long eve ends with the various Christmas games: tombola, merchant at the fair, 7 and a half. This is my home on Christmas Eve.
