In the bad weather of 1864, which lasted more than two weeks, the lake froze. Α woman ready to have a baby, who was a bride on the island and had left her parents behind in Ioannina, decided to take advantage of the frozen lake and go see them. So, she started walking and went to her parents. On her way home, she was in labor and gave birth there, on the frozen lake. The child had for this reason the nickname “Pagotos” (Ice Cream), which is still the surname of some families on the island.
